Stripes

It has almost been a year since we first moved into our house last December. When we moved in all the walls were painted an off white color, which made painting much easier. My mom came to visit in February of 2006 and helped us paint the living room, kitchen and hall a really nice yellow color. I loved the difference it made, our house felt so much nicer and homier with the warm yellow on the walls. Since we painted the walls we have been wanting to add stripes on two of the walls in the living room. As nice as the yellow was, we wanted a little more color in our house. Finally, today-9 months later-we got around to painting the stripes. We used a laser level to get straight lines on the wall to help with taping and painted brown, tan and red stripes. This was one of those projects where the finished look was really a product of both our imaginations (we each had slightly different ideas about what it would look like and sorta combined our thoughts for the final look) as well as a little adjusting as we learned about painting stripes as we went along. I LOVE the way it looks. We still have a little touch up to do tomorrow once it is all pretty dry, but I am super excited about how it is going to look when we get the whole living room put back together. Anniversary Dinner

cake.jpg Last night I was kind of bummed as I went home because it was our anniversary and we weren’t going to be doing anything special. We had decided to wait until next weekend to go out and celebrate, and then what really bummed me out was when I realized that all we had to eat for dinner was leftovers. Little did I know that my awesome husband left work at noon (telling me he had an all afternoon training meeting so I wouldn’t expect emails or anything from him) and went home to clean up and fix an awesome dinner. He is getting to be quite sneaky! He had tuna sushi for me as an appetizer, my favorite kind, and while I was eating that he finished up the rest of the dinner. He had made two different types of grilled shrimp as well as some yummy steak and sugar snap peas. To cap it all off, he made a beautiful, delicious chocolate cake and bought some awesome orchids for table decorations. It was so yummy, and so pretty and so thoughtful, my husband is really great, if I do say so myself.

Tonight we are heading up to Chattanooga to celebrate Jennifer’s birthday, it should be a fun weekend full of good food and lots of good hanging out time. I am very excited!

I also want to say Happy Birthday to my brother Evan. We stole his thunder by getting married on his 13th birthday :). Today he is 17, I can't believe it!

HI!

HI!

This week my mom is visiting my grandma in her town of Leesburg Florida. Recently my mom discovered that the town put up a web cam downtown that you can access via the city's web page (www.leesburgflorida.gov). So today my mom and grandma went downtown and called me to say hi. It was way more fun than I was expecting it to be, and actually I had several co-workers grouped around my computer watching my mom and grandma with me. It was surprisingly distracting today, and I found myself checking the web cam off an on, getting excited when someone walked by and hoping something interesting would happen. It is such a sleepy little town though, that my mom standing there waving was probably the biggest thing that happened in the town square today. You can't really tell from the picture, but all along the walkway are memorial bricks with people's names on them. I got a shot of my mom standing on the memorial brick for my grandpa. This was my excitment for the day!
