4 months
I feel like every month I find myself saying "I can't believe he is already ____ months old!" I feel like we just came home from the hospital yesterday, and yet I have trouble remembering what life was like before he was here and it feels like he was always a part of our family.
His newest trick is that in the last couple of days he has started lifting his upper body and leaning forward to pick up toys that are in his lap. Until now, he would play with a toy if we handed it to him, but as soon as he dropped it he would forget about it. His hand eye coordination is getting better every day and he is way more purposeful about reaching for things and grabbing them. I can tell I am going to have to stop wearing dangly earrings soon!
In the past couple of weeks he has gotten way more vocal, you can really tell when he is excited about something (like eating!) and when he is not happy about his current situation!
He already is showing definite preferences, he has favorite toys and favorite activities. So far his personality is laid back but definite in what he wants (does that sound like anyone else we know?), and it will be interesting to see if it continues to develop along those lines.
We had his 4 month check up today, we are trying a new drs office, I was not happy with the pediatricians at Kaiser. He weighed in at 18 lbs, 11 oz and was 27 inches long! I have trouble carrying him in his car seat now, and I usually just get him out and carry him by himself.
He hasn't rolled over again since the first time he did it a few weeks ago, but I think he could if he wanted to. When we play with him on the floor he rolls onto his side all the time, but just hasn’t made the effort to keep going. With help in the balancing department he will stand for several minutes, bearing his own weight. He can’t sit up yet on his own, but if you balance him he will stay propped up for a few seconds before toppling over. He is also noticing other babies more and more and smiling at the other babies at day care.
So far I am still nursing, but it has been a rougher road than I anticipated (Going back to work has been really hard in lots of ways). I am so thankful that nursing itself has gone so smoothly, it makes all the pumping worth it. He loves, loves, loves eating, and that really helps me feel motivated to keep at it.
This has been the best 4 months of my life, I can't imagine not having Truett in our lives!
