Air Guitar
Flickr's new video upload is pretty cool! It was easy to use and uploaded pretty fast. This is something we would never have been able to do with our old computer. So, for your viewing pleasure, here is Truett in his first air guitar performance!

Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!! I hope everyone is having a fun and special day doing whatever you want to do. I am so thankful to be a mom, and I am having fun on my first mother's day with a baby on the outside! I was only a few weeks pregnant last mother's day and had no idea what it would be like.We had fun at Brian's graduation yesterday, and there are new pictures on flickr. We ended the day with a picnic by a lake, chilly but fun. This a big step in Brian's life and I am really proud of him. His girlfriend is graduation today with her master's in speach pathology, so congrats to Allison too!

Yay for Friday!
We are off in a bit for a fun weekend in North Carolina. We are going to the Goseys tonight and then tomorrow we are going to Boone for Brian's graduation. Sunday my father-in-law is making a yummy lunch for Mother's day.
Have a great weekend!

I have learned so much already!
There is definitely a learning curve to buying clothes for kids! Today Truett is wearing a pair of pants that I bought on sale at Old Navy when he was only a few weeks old and I was so young and inexperienced (unlike my current self with 4 ˝ months experience-I am such an old hand at this mothering thing now!). The pants are super cute and are big enough that they will probably fit him for at least another hour or two (he grows out of clothes quickly!), but they have a zip fly with a button at the top and no snaps to undo the legs for diaper changes! What was I thinking?!?! It is okay to have no snaps on the legs if you have an elastic waist to make it easy to get clothes on and off, but the combination of a real fly and no snaps is really inconvenient for a 4 month old. I am sure the day care ladies are complaining to each other with each diaper change today.
Also, we had a couple outfits when he was smaller that buttoned up the back, another no no for baby clothes! Also, if your baby has a big head like ours does (99% in head circumference), shirts with a round neck should also be avoided. They either need to unbutton, fasten in the front or have laped shoulders like a onesie.
And at the end of the day, he prefers wearing no clothes. He gets so excited and grins like crazy whenever we take his clothes off. Crazy baby!
On a side note, one plus size of having him in day care is that I go days (sometimes a whole week) without changing a poopy diaper. He tends to have only one a day, sometime in the middle of the day (that might be more info than you were interested in hearing!), and twice this week has had a huge blow out at day care involving a change in clothing. I am pretty sure he gets his clothes changed more than any other baby in his room.

Thanks George Bush!
I am blogging from the living room, on our brand new laptop that we bought this weekend with our George Bush money! We have wanted a new computer for a while now, our old one was frustratingly slow and the last thing I want to do at night is sit back in the office by myself on the computer. Now that we have this fancy shmancy new laptop I can sit out here and blog as much as I want!

4 months
I feel like every month I find myself saying "I can't believe he is already ____ months old!" I feel like we just came home from the hospital yesterday, and yet I have trouble remembering what life was like before he was here and it feels like he was always a part of our family. His newest trick is that in the last couple of days he has started lifting his upper body and leaning forward to pick up toys that are in his lap. Until now, he would play with a toy if we handed it to him, but as soon as he dropped it he would forget about it. His hand eye coordination is getting better every day and he is way more purposeful about reaching for things and grabbing them. I can tell I am going to have to stop wearing dangly earrings soon!
In the past couple of weeks he has gotten way more vocal, you can really tell when he is excited about something (like eating!) and when he is not happy about his current situation!
He already is showing definite preferences, he has favorite toys and favorite activities. So far his personality is laid back but definite in what he wants (does that sound like anyone else we know?), and it will be interesting to see if it continues to develop along those lines.
We had his 4 month check up today, we are trying a new drs office, I was not happy with the pediatricians at Kaiser. He weighed in at 18 lbs, 11 oz and was 27 inches long! I have trouble carrying him in his car seat now, and I usually just get him out and carry him by himself.
He hasn't rolled over again since the first time he did it a few weeks ago, but I think he could if he wanted to. When we play with him on the floor he rolls onto his side all the time, but just hasn’t made the effort to keep going. With help in the balancing department he will stand for several minutes, bearing his own weight. He can’t sit up yet on his own, but if you balance him he will stay propped up for a few seconds before toppling over. He is also noticing other babies more and more and smiling at the other babies at day care.
So far I am still nursing, but it has been a rougher road than I anticipated (Going back to work has been really hard in lots of ways). I am so thankful that nursing itself has gone so smoothly, it makes all the pumping worth it. He loves, loves, loves eating, and that really helps me feel motivated to keep at it.
This has been the best 4 months of my life, I can't imagine not having Truett in our lives!
